Tuesday Work in Progress: Crafting Custom Marble Jharokhas for a Client’s Dream Space

 At Rameshwaram Marble, every project is more than just stonework – it is about understanding our client’s vision and transforming it into a timeless design. This Tuesday, our workshop is buzzing with the creation of a very special order: 18 handcrafted marble wall jharokhas, customized in size (7x6x3 inch) to bring a unique symmetry to a client’s living room and garden.

                             


Listening to the Client’s Vision

The journey began when our client approached us with a clear idea – they wanted multiple marble jharokhas arranged in a perfectly symmetrical pattern. Their dream was to create a wall feature that would serve both as a decorative highlight and a functional piece, with tealight candles glowing inside each niche.

This request was not just about making jharokhas. It was about weaving tradition and elegance into the architecture of a modern home.

The Customization Process

Unlike standard pieces, this project required precision:

  • Size Adjustment: Each jharokha had to be 7x6x3 inches to fit seamlessly into the planned grid.

  • Symmetry Focus: The carving had to remain consistent across all 18 pieces so that, when installed, they would look like one unified artwork.

  • Dual Use: The design needed to adapt to both indoor living room walls and an outdoor garden wall.

Our artisans carefully worked on each piece, ensuring smooth polish, accurate detailing, and uniformity across the entire set.

The Work in Progress

Currently, the jharokhas are being shaped and polished in our workshop. Watching them come alive – from raw stone blocks to delicate arches – is a reminder of the skill and patience required in marble craftsmanship.

The best part? Every single piece is made by hand, with our client’s vision at the center of the process.
